Heather Hunter Bergwrote the  following poem after class with Tataya May 23

Tips of fingers sing
temples awake,          deeper
inside, ylang-ylang       melts
shoulders, spine, in
pools of flesh, floor

Beads of scented        pillow
cool all vision black
cocooned in temple
body enshrined,
flowing open toward
ungated exchange

Thunder roars bliss
deeper, still, gray
peace in slow            vibration
clouds, full above,
within, we are            soothed,
soothers in still grace.

-Thank you,
      Heather!

"Summer time and the livin' is easy"

Won't it be fun to take advantage of how relaxed the body becomes in summer to open up deeper and more easily? We're looking forward to doing more hip and heart opening and back bends this summer--either basic or advanced. You'll see results and feel better all day long.  And you'll witness your bodyunfolding like a flower!

Don't forget the Yoga Workshop for Stiff People coming up next Sunday, June 1! This is a perfect workshop to attend if you want to improve your level of fitness, protect yourself from injury, feel alive and more open. It's also a great one to introduce yoga to your spouse or friends, so invite them to sign up with you.

Thomas and I have the opportunity to visit my family in Venezuela next week, and we couldn't pass it up! We're so excited and, of course, my mom is thrilled. Yoga Body and Balance yoga program will be closed from June 2-9, but we know we will return refreshed and nurtured, ready to guide, inspire and co-witness your summer journey of well-being! And of course, if you purchased an unlimited pass, it will be extended one week.

P.S. Only the yoga program will be closed June 2-8, Olga will be available!

Quantum Touch--more than I imagined!

by Thomas

I have to say I was a little surprised. I knew about Quantum Touch and believed that it could be beneficial, but at the workshop I was amazed to feel and to observe that others were so clear about feeling energy coursing through their bodies. Sometimes people reply to a question about what they're experiencing with, "I'm not sure. . . maybe?" but here, the effects were obvious and profound.

In principal the Quantum-Touch practitioner learns to focus and amplify life-force energy ("Chi" or "Prana") by combining various breathing and body awareness exercises.  When the practitioner holds a high vibrational field of life-force energy around an affected area, she or he facilitates healing.
What we saw was that everyone in the room became a channel, a tool of healing. Conditions left the body in seconds or minutes with the touch of a hand and focus of energy.

Tataya, Olga and I have already incorporated Quantum Touch techniques into our yoga classes and services, and we are working towards our own certification as Quantum Touch practitioners. We will be offering free sessions to fulfill our experience requirements for certification. Watch for sign-up sheets and take advantage. You have everything to gain and nothing to lose. Skeptics welcome!

Many of you told us that since the workshop was held on Mother's Day weekend, you were unable to come. You'll have that chance the first November 8-9 when Fe Bailey and Asha Stokes will return for another Quantum Touch workshop!

Benefits of Prenatal Yoga

by Daya

Prenatal yoga is a gift you can give yourself and your baby during your pregnancy. If this is your first pregnancy, prenatal yoga offers a special time to connect to the life growing inside you. If you already have children, taking time out for prenatal yoga will help you create balance that may be hard to find otherwise. Prenatal yoga class will offer a time to focus on taking care of yourself and the baby who has yet to be born.

Pregnancy is often a time of heightened sensitivity. Emotions feel stronger, bodily discomforts increase and we are always concerned for the welfare of the baby we can feel, but cannot yet see. During yoga class we set the worrying mind aside. We focus on forging positive connections to baby and changing body. There is time to just rest and observe. Conscious breathing and movement increase our sense of well-being and help us to feel more energetic. The practice strengthens the body as it deepens relaxation. When we surrender into the moment with yoga we connect with a deeper source of strength, power and endurance.

Even on the physical level prenatal yoga has so many wonderful benefits for the pregnant mother’s body. Here is just a short list:
  • Maintains or improves maternal fitness and posture
  • Balances hormones
  • Reduces backaches
  • Improves circulation
  • Improves endurance during labor
  • Strengthens birthing muscles
  • Quickens postpartum recovery

Quote of the Month

"Internal and external are ultimately one. When you no longer perceive the world as hostile, there is no more fear, and when there is no more fear, you think, speak and act differently. Love and compassion arise, and they affect the world."

                                                                                 ~Eckhart Tolle

Book of the Month--
Thomas

I have to confess, (and since none of you have made recommendations this month--nudge, nudge), I'm still reading A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle. I realize even more that it will want a second and even third reading. If you haven't read it, be sure you take the time this summer.
